Simplify. In a winning position, seek exchanges that reduce complexity. An extra pawn in a simple endgame plays better with 30 seconds than any position with pieces on the board.
Create practical problems. In a losing or equal position, complicate the position as much as possible: pawn sacrifices for activity, tactical positions where the opponent must calculate precisely.
